Bas-Reliefs

When the wall becomes an object.

Bas-relief adds dimension without separating art from architecture. Form, shadow and surface are designed together so the work changes as the light moves across it.

Designed for the architecture

Sculpture, proportion and wall surface become one composition.

A bas-relief is not simply mounted decoration. Its depth, scale and placement have to respond to the wall, surrounding furniture, circulation and the direction of light.

01

Form

The composition is developed according to the dimensions and visual role of the wall rather than scaled from a generic panel.

02

Shadow

Relief is read through light. Depth and edge quality are controlled so the piece remains legible throughout the day.

Surface

Finish and color can remain close to the wall or become a stronger contrast depending on the architecture around it.

Start with the wall

Send the space and the idea you want to explore.

Share photographs, wall dimensions and any reference that matters to the commission. The first step is determining the right form and scale for the room.

The process

From wall study to sculptural installation.

Each commission is developed in stages so scale, subject, relief depth and finish can be reviewed before final fabrication or installation.

01

Wall & room review

We begin with wall dimensions, photographs, furniture, surrounding materials and the intended visual role of the piece.

02

Concept

The subject, overall silhouette and placement are developed specifically for the project.

03

Depth & detail

Relief depth, edge quality and fine detail are defined according to viewing distance and the available light.

04

Finish

Color and surface are selected to integrate with the room or create a deliberate material contrast.

05

Fabrication & installation

The final work is fabricated and prepared for the specific installation method required by the project.

Scale & application

From a single panel to an architectural installation.

Relief can work as a contained art object or as part of the architecture itself. The right approach depends on scale, viewing distance and how permanently the work should belong to the space.

Panels & sculptural pieces

Smaller-format works can function as individual art objects, grouped compositions or commissioned pieces designed for a specific wall.

Architectural relief

Larger work can be integrated into accent walls, entries, hospitality spaces, feature surfaces and other architectural zones.

Scale and installation are developed project by project

Custom commissions

The subject can be personal. The composition still belongs to the room.

A commission can begin with a botanical form, abstract geometry, family symbolism, a crest, landscape or another meaningful subject. The final design is translated into a relief appropriate for the architecture rather than treated as a direct copy of an image.
